Heart-To-Heart With Mena, Episode 2 ; Happiness?

Sorry for the obscenely late Episode 2. But I had close to zero inspiration, but now, I’m back. So enough of the crap, Straight to the point, shall we?

Now, as per usual, all of these are my personal philosophies, so do take it with a pinch of salt, but again, I’ll continue to be very direct and straightforward. First and foremost.

Self- Help Books.

Burn them.I used to be that little lost lamb, and because of that, I bought a ridiculous amount of self-help books. Do they help? Only 25%. And ironically, the expect you to do 70% of the work. Being a lazy person, I disagree. Here’s a book that a friend gave me a while back.

Was it a good book? Yes. Did it help? No.

Happiness?

To me, happiness is nothing but a phase of mind, and a non-existent one,at that. People are always constantly looking for ‘Happiness’, but what is it,really. As mentioned, its a phase of mind. But to achieve it, you would basically need an immense amount of luck, with a giant scoop of naiveness. Happiness is often divided into different criterias.

1.) Monetary Happiness.

It’s as simple as it is. Your job or business is going well, the cash flow is steady, so on and so forth, but even achieving this, different factors would cause you to become unhappy again.

2.) Human Relation Happiness.

Human relations,eh? Exactly. It doesn’t just have to be your relationship with a person you fancy, but with everyone. Co-workers, friends, even your boss for that matter. Again, even achieving this, other factors would still affect your state of mind.

3.) Family Happiness.

You met the love of your life, you may/may not have started a family. All is good. Until something new pops up.

4.) General Happiness.

This would be happiness as a whole. However, this isn’t a ‘If you have 2/3, you pass!’ situation. Even if one single factor is off, you will never achieve happiness.

‘ Damn. That sounds bad. How do I find happiness then?’

Simple. 2 words.

‘Being Content’.

It’s not as simple as it seems. Being. Content. It’s human nature to be greedy, hence, even if you succeed in having 2 out of 3 of the criterias, you will never be happy. You will always want more, and more, and more. That’s the cold ugly truth. The best way to find happiness is to be content. If you’re happy where you are, everything would seem lighter,easier.Aka. Happiness.

Now, here’s the punchline.

Being content has its downside. Being content would sometimes cause you to be complacent. And because of that, you would have to be extra careful. Slow and steady is the key.

Again. These are just my simple philosophy, and I hope it does help someone. Stay tuned for more,

Mena.
